Tattoos

Take these in consideration

Before your tattoo appointment

It is highly recommended to take care and moisturize your skin at least 1-2 weeks before your appointment. A well cared skin is much easier to tattoo.

Read the after-care instructions thoroughly. If there is something about the instructions that makes you ponder, contact the tattoo artist.

  • Tattoos are 18+ and are never done to minors.
  • Tattoo consultation is always free
  • Drink and eat well before your appointment, dress casually and preferably in dark clothes.
  • Do not use blood thinners (unless you have to) 24hours before your appointment.
  • If you suspect that you are allergic to tattoo ink, consult a dermatologist before reserving an appointment.
  • Tattoos are not done if you are intoxicated or sick. Please arrive healthy and sober.

Care-instructions

After the tattoo

At the end of the tattoo session the area is cleaned, applied with ointment and protected with either cling film or second-skin. Let the film stay on the tattoo at least 2-3 hours or untill you arrive home. This prevents any bacteria from entering the wound from example your clothes rubbing against it, and so minimizes the risk of infection. A fresh tattoo is very sensitive and has a high risk of getting infected.

When you arrive home, remove the film gently and wash the fresh tattoo under lukewarm water, this calms the area. Never rub a fresh tattoo. You can pat the area dry with a paper towel or a clean towel. Lastly spread a light layer of tattoo ointment.

From here on rinse the tattoo for example in the morning and evening and apply ointment 2-3 times a day to improve the healing process.  If you have a drier skin than normal, the tattoo might need more after-care.

NOTE! After-care and healing process is always the customers responsibility. The tattoo artist is not responsible for anything which happens outside the studio.

Don't do

Do not use “regular” moisturizing balms, or cortizone, it might irritate the skin and make the tattoo fade.

Do not keep the cling film on the tattoo overnight or longer than necessary. It’s important to let the tattoo breathe, to improve the healing process. Applying ointment too often should be avoided and do not cover it with a new film.  If your job exposes your tattoo to impurities, it’s good to protect your tattoo with a long sleeved shirt during work. However, let your tattoo be as free from clothes as much as possible.

Rough excercise should be avoided for at least the first 2-3 days. Also sauna, swimming and bathing tubs should be avoided for the first three weeks.

Avoid tight clothes on the tattooed area, do not scrape or rip the itching, flaking tattoo skin. This will fall off by itself in the shower or while cleaning your tattoo.

Other things to notice

Your tattoo might be swollen and sore for several days, it’s completely normal. Also a fever, especially during the first evening is very common, you do not need to be concerned.

You are allowed to take pain-killers.

If you fear that your tattoo is infected, contact a doctor. A infected tattoo is clearly much more aggitated and sore, the area forms suppurating scabs and redness.

badly infected tattoo requires antibiotics.
